When I was little, my dad picked up my family and moved us to Japan for work. I'll admit, it was really hard as a child but I grew to love Japan and I consider it home. I hear all the time from People that Japan is on their bucket list and I I completely agreen it should be a location that should be on everyone's bucket list. The hardest part is what time of the year do you go visit?!
Winter:
Winter is a blast. For New Years, all stores have what is called a happy box. They fill up giant bags or boxes with items that have a high value and sell it at a cheap price. It's a quality grab bag! My first time experiencing Happy Box time was amazing. We drove to a couple of shopping malls and bought boxes/bags from our favorite store and some from places that the bags looked amazing! We hit the Jackpot! There are a lot of Vloggers that show their loot that they got from their Happy Box times.
Winter is also so much fun for the festivals and cultural experiences. At Christmas, you see everyone buying KFC, and there are Christmas lights everywhere! In Sapporo, there is the snow and ice festivals. They are stunning and a must see for anyone and EVERYONE! For New Years, you will see people participating in cultural worship where they burn a relic from the previous year and purchase a new one for the New year.
Spring:
SAKURA!! Cherry Blossum season is stunning. The best thing is to rent row boats and row around the imperial palace or walk through the parks. The air smells amazing and everyhting looks so pink. Even the Honey that is harvested at that time has a hint of cherry in it. SO YUMMY! Anyone will tell you that Sakura season is a must.
Summer:
DEATH! Summer is so humid that july is unbearable. Tokyo Disney is really fun in the summer though. At Tokyo Disney Sea, there is a show that they just spray water into the crowd. Between that and some of the rides, it's a great way to stay cool.
Fall:
Festivals are amazing. There is one called Obong festival and it's a blast. When I was little, that was my first festival and I was hooked! I recommend Halloween as well. The entire strees of Shibuya is just filled with people dressed up and it's one GIANT halloween party!!
There are so many things to do all year in Japan and If anyone had the funds, I would recommend visiting all parts of Japan for each season because there is so much to do and there are so many sights to see!
